Dr. Matthew VanderLaan was born in Grand Rapids, and grew up in Kentwood. After graduating from East Kentwood High School in 2001, he earned his Bachelor in Science degree in 2005, followed by his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2009, both from the University of Michigan. Dr. VanderLaan spent the first three years of his career working at a community clinic, serving Medicaid and Welfare patients. With the experience gained in his first three years of practice, Dr. VanderLaan made the move to private practice and began working in his current office in May of 2012. The practice had been a staple in the Cutlerville community since the 1970s and was previously run for more than 40 years by Dr. George Cripps.Since graduating from dental school, Dr. VanderLaan has passionately pursued continuing his education to further his skill set and provide the best possible treatment options and outcomes for his patients. Dr. VanderLaan currently resides in Byron Center with his wife, Dana, and his children, Brooke, Jenna, AJ, and Nora. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling, playing golf, going to continuing education seminars, and watching Michigan Sports.
